Scottish Community (22/03/2012)

With no podcast this week, it's time to update you on the happenings within the Scottish game community within the past week. From success in the Samsung Student Developer's Challenge to the release of a new browser-based title, it's been a busy time in and around these "bonnie banks".

First up this week, we have news of a training programme. "Gen Up" is a five-week, full-time graduate training scheme aimed to develop your skills and experience within the digital media industry. The programme runs from the 17th June to the 18th July, and offers you the chance to work with companies like Channel 4 and BBC. For anyone interested in the event and within the games, filming and television, animation or marketing and advertisement, you have until Tuesday 26th March to submit your application online (the link can be found here).

Elgin-based company Hunted Cow Studios have released a closed beta of their browser-based MMO title, Eldevin. For fans of Runescape and Drakensang, this game is for you: although you'll have to wait until the open beta version is released in the near future. Eldevin has enough charm and sense of adventure to keep you engrossed in its vast environment.

We'd like to extend our congratulations to the guys at Crash Course Studios (Michael, Lyam, Dale and Cameron) for their success in the Student Developer's Challenge. The Abertay student-led team has managed to progress to the next stage, which includes a trip to London, for their strategy-sports title, Super American Football. Good luck with the remainder of the competition!

Speaking of the Student Developer's Challenge, we'd like to again thank Table 32 Studios (Steven, Julie, Thomas and Martin) for taking part in an interview with us last week. Check out the interview here!

And that's a wrap on your weekly round-up! Remember to check out our social media networks (found at the top of the page) and subscribe to the YouTube channel for more media goodness!
